I am a Colorado native and a lifelong learner. My wife, Deb, and I have four children. Our baby, Michaela, is at Columbine High School. Wow, it is hard to call this beautiful young lady our baby! Our other three children have graduated from public schools and are successfully making their way in the world. Among other schools our children have attended Dutch Creek elementary, Falcon Bluffs middle school, as well as Columbine high school in Jeffco. I am very active in public education having participated on PTA’s and Accountability committees.
My professional career is in Information Technology and Business Management. I have run companies such as Aabren Group and Turillion, where I was responsible for budget management and making sure financial resources were used effectively and efficiently to meet the goals set. I have been responsible for the security and integrity of data for leading Denver-area companies such as Newmont Mining, where that data ran mines around the world, as well as policy development for Fortune 1000 companies.
I have been fortunate to sit on boards such as a city symphony marketing advisory board and have been an officer in a public company, Data Race, were my success came from listening to all points of view before making important decisions and respecting each individual as they expressed their opinions. I am very comfortable crafting policy to guide the experts as they direct the day to day work of educating our students.
I am a graduate of the University of Colorado – Denver with a degree in Mathematics. I have continuously educated myself in undergrad and grad schools, including universities in Indiana, Texas, New Mexico, and University of Colorado – Denver, with a belief that continual learning is key to success in life. I am convinced that the love for learning is one of the keys to a successful future, and I am committed to ensure Jeffco students are engaged and excel!
I hope to earn your support and I pledge to always be available to listen and to hear from many different perspectives before making decisions.
PS: Ask me about my favorite teacher; she inspired me to be a life long learner.
